State Requirements

Taking Your License Exam

Examinations for insurance licensing by the State of Washington are administered by Pearson Vue, Inc. Exams are administered several times each year in locations throughout the state. Click here for locations in Everett and Tukwila.

Candidates will not be allowed to take the state exams without first providing proof that required pre-licensing education requirements have been met. Candidates will be required to present a Certificate of Completion at the test site and will also be required to present two pieces of signature identification (one of which must include a photo) and an exam registration confirmation number. Exam fees must be prepaid by credit card or debit card.

An "Insurance Licensing Examination Candidate Handbook" is available free of charge to guide applicants through the examination and licensing process. This handbook includes a registration form which must be completed and signed. To request a handbook, contact www.PearsonVue.com or the State Office of the Insurance Commissioner at www.insurance.wa.gov.

Registration for an insurance exam must be made at least three days prior to the exam. To register, call Pearson Vue, Inc. at 800-274-8949. As confirmation, students registering by phone receive a registration number. This number, and the Certificates of Completion proving that pre-licensing education requirements have been met, must be presented at the test site. (We do not recommend registering online as receipt of a confirming registration number can take up to 48 hours.)

Candidates are not permitted to take calculators, textbooks, or paper of any kind into the examination room.

Did you pass? Of course you did. Most of our students do.
Pass/Fail notices are provided immediately following each examination.
